when people defend pop stars who lipsync with “but they’re dancing! it’s impossible to dance like that and sound good!”
i’m just like
have you ever seen a musical before? no lipsynching going on there and the actors are dancing for their lives while doing like 6 part harmonies and being near pitch perfect
you either have the talent to sing live or you don’t. end of story.
We teach girls to shrink themselves, to make themselves smaller. We say to girls, “You can have ambition But not too much. You should aim to be successful but not too successful otherwise you will threaten the man.” Because I am female I am expected to aspire to marriage. I am expected to make my life choices always keeping in mind that marriage is the most important. Now marriage can be a source of Joy and love and mutual support, but why do we teach girls to aspire to marriage and we don’t teach boys the same? We raise girls to see each other as competitors- not for jobs or for accomplishments which I think can be a good thing- but for the attention of men. We teach girls that they cannot be sexual beings In the way that boys are. Feminist: a person who believes in the social political, and economic equality of the sexes.
remember the time shrek 2 ended with the best animated music number ever for no apparent reason
really tho straight guys will go on and on about how uncomfortable it makes them when gay guys hit on them but lets be fucking honest how many times have u seen a guy continue to hit on another guy after hes visibly uncomfortable vs. how many times a straight guy has continued to hit on a girl after shes visibly uncomfortable
This needs more notes
[on diversity in media] I think its social responsibility. I think it’s our responsibility to stand up and say what we want. It think if you look at television in the past two years, it’s becoming the decade of the female. Like, all these new shows with female leads. Even if you look at television, as well as cable, as well as films, there’s been a resurgence, as far as the leading woman in Hollywood, which is great. And I think we’re also at the point now…you know, it’s interesting…x
